The Barbers Arms | UK

Dragonfly Contracts Ltd have recently renovated The Barber Arms, a derelict pub in Manchester. They plan to use the refurbished pub as their new workspace, where they can work, meet and collaborate with suppliers, clients and the local community.
We are very pleased to be part of this exciting project from Dragonfly, and are happy to see a variety of our products in this unique space.

From the Managing Director of Dragonfly – Joe McKenna

Our exciting new workspace is designed to have many uses, from a working office to a place to meet and collaborate with suppliers, clients and the local community.

Following the purchase of the derelict pub and subsequent strip out, we found fantastic original features which inspired the interior design.

The ground floor is truly multifunctional, with a number of vibrant, flexible spaces which can be used for formal meetings, relaxed communal and interactive spaces for team meetings, presentations and entertaining.

We are actively promoting the space to be utilised by businesses, suppliers, clients and local authority organisations.
The response from local business and neighbours has been fantastic. We didn’t appreciate what the regeneration of the building meant to the area. Bringing the pub back to life felt like the right thing to do for Dragonfly Contracts Ltd and the local community.

From the Designer – Nicola Dunsmore

The Barbers Arms had been empty for over 10 years, it has a wealth of history and character and it felt like a fantastic opportunity to bring it back to life.

It was essential to us to capture as many of the original features as we could. The original tiled floor has remained showing the original shape of the bar with a selection of new floor finishes alongside it. The steelwork has been exposed giving maximum head height and further features. The original stained-glass panels have been made into feature windows and back lit pictures. The vibrant mix of finishes reflect the era of the building along with mixing new and old products to give the space a unique feel.

The ground floor space is welcoming and its purpose is to be used as a working and show space catering for all types of meetings informal and otherwise. There is a lounge space to promote a relaxed area, a more traditional Boardroom for large official meetings, informal bright small meeting area and a large central social space with a refreshment bar area alongside a large team table. There is a vast samples library for all to use along with an original draughtsman’s plan chest for layout purposes. The first floor is a large open plan working office, with collaboration space and private meeting room. Originally the living quarters so many small rooms made into one space with a concerted effort to retain the original fireplaces and hearths where possible. The space as a whole is intended to be a large interactive social space, retaining character and promoting an alternative work environment. We hope you like it!
